Convoy CW9 codenamed ‘Peewit’

Dear Sir,

I have just started work on a BBC One documentary series about 1940. One of the programmes will include the story of Convoy CW9 codenamed Peewit, which was attacked by the Luftwaffe in August 1940. On the 8th August 4 British ships were sunk, including 3 merchant vessels the Coquetdale, Empire Crusader and Ajax .

I was wondering if your association might be able to help me I am trying to track down any veterans who were involved in Convoy Peewit and was hoping you might have some suggestions as to how I might go about this, of whether any of your members might either be veterans of this Convoy, or might be able to put me in touch with anyone who was.

Best wishes,

James
