Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are quickly approaching the Annual Remembrance period.  In line with past years in Edinburgh, the Royal British Legion Scotland are very keen to expand on the level of participation in the Capital City events.  The purpose of this short note is to give Organisations as much notice as possible to ensure that we get maximum representation on the two main events that are being planned by the Legion in Edinburgh.  More detailed instructions will come out closer to the event.

  1. Opening Ceremony for the Edinburgh Garden of Remembrance at the Scott Monument on Princes Street, Edinburgh will take place at 11am (all Standards in Position by 1045am) on Monday 4 Nov 13.

It is planned to follow the traditional format for the event where Organisations will lay Wreaths in the Garden after the official Opening Ceremony.  However a change to the normal is the inclusion this year of Organisation and Association Standards being involved in the Ceremony.  The aim being to include a Standard Bearer from every Organisation and Association represented in the Garden.  Please inform Legion Head Office of your intention to participate.

  1. The Annual Commemoration Parade and Service is to take place at the Stone of Remembrance, City Chambers, Edinburgh at 11am on Sunday 10 Nov 13.

As in 2012 there is no plan to conduct a March past at the Stone of Remembrance.  There will be a very short march from the form up point at the junction of St Giles Street and High Street to the City Chambers.  Organisations are most welcome to come along and join in the Parade and Service.  VIPs and invited Organisations will lay Wreaths at the Stone of Remembrance and they will receive separate official instructions for the event.  If your Organisation is planning to come along please be in position at the form up point by 10.15am on the day.  Please bear in mind that there is limited space in front of the City Chambers.

The RBLS hope your Organisation can join them and the City of Edinburgh on the 4th and 10th November to Remember in comradeship and community spirit.

Yours Sincerely

Kevin
