Rodney Nichols PWSTS 1953
Dear Sir/Madam,
My father recently passed away a couple of weeks ago and going through some old photo's I found one of him with his PWSTS uniform and cap. I know he went to a residential school run by PWSTS from around his 13th birthday for 2-3 years. He was born on the 10th May 1937. I know he did join the Merchant Navy before he started his National Service in 1955/6. The only other information I have for this period is that he told me he took part in the 1953 Coronation Fleet Review. I can't find the photo's at the moment but I remember seeing one with him standing along the masts of a ship with dozens of other sailors which was taken at that time.
I'd be most grateful for any information you may have on his time at the PWSTS as I'd like to include this in a eulogy that I'm presently preparing for him.
Should you require any further information I will try to assist you.
Have given condolences to Ashley and the family and they are very happy to have the Standard paraded at Rodney's funeral at Southend on Sea Crematorium, Sutton Road, SS2 5PX on Tuesday, 14th at 10.40.
