Hi, I've just taken these photos from the Ramsgate Mayor's website from the hoisting of the "Red Ensign" at Ramsgate today. Sadly, as many of you know, this was unexpected as it was supposed to be happening on Sunday hence our members were not there. We were spread over other pre-planned Friday events with myself and members being at County Hall in Maidstone. I am very pleased to see that our colleague Roger Head of the PWSTS managed to attend prior to travelling to Dover for which I thank him very much. I have informed the Ramsgate Mayor that we WILL be attending this event next year with our Standard and more members as we have 12 months to plan ahead.
These photos show the "Red Ensign" spread out followed by a group photo and finally, the Mayor's Mace Bearer, who is also a retired merchant seafarer, reciting "Vindi Boy" Dave Partridge's poem "HEROES". Regards, Phil.
