I paid a visit to South Staffs on Sunday the 11th on a hot spring day and spent a morning wandering around.

I must admit the main area that you see on the hill does the Uk proud for once, a very impressive and evocative monument to say the least, it make you feel very proud but also sad to see the names.

The MN area is also in it's own right impressive too, the Red Duster flies proud to the entrance to the WW2 convoy memorial, and standing behind is a whole forest of oaks to represent the total number of ships sunk.

Each tree as it's own special commemorative plaque, some to represent shipping company s, some with names of a certain crew member and others of particular ships.

You will note that the whole area is lined with bollards, and the stillness of the wood is in particular noticeable.

Please note that Andy as kindly added the shots to the main site for your perusal, in particular a selection of the types of memorial on site.

As it as been noted before the bricketts are in my vernacular "naff" to say the least, by sticking to our standard format plaque I think it would be impressive, just how and what we mount it on I hope you all will contribute (please even those who just visit this site and look in add a comment, it would be appreciated, after all it was our own PWSTS lads).

At the moment all ideas are open for debate, the exploration of cost can come later, the Arboretum are open to ideas for presentation to their committee.

One simple idea is to mount the plaque on one of the bollards, so over too you lads (and Lassies)

Please ask away any questions you may have about the place and if you need any more info or photos just ask.
