Us Yorkshire folk are not normally that sentimental but I too was quite moved by the inscription on the plaque. Well done to all concerned and I look forward to the reunion weekend.---- Tony.
I'm glad you like it. I will re-take the photograph (outside if the sun ever shines) as it doesn't show the plaque at its best. The inscription is what everyone agreed on last year so its a credit to all involved. The cost of these plaques is phenomenal. Most other quotes came in around £360 + VAT but we've managed to secure a reasonable deal so the same firm will be used to commission plaques for Ingham and Limehouse. Dover Harbour Board are still okay with everything so the unveiling will go ahead as planned during the reunion weekend.
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who was evolved with the fund raising over the past twelve months. You know who you are and without your efforts we couldn't have hoped to have commissioned this plaque.
The Plaque is great Andy!. Now the word "Great" perhaps does not cover all what I really think, but for now.."Great" is fine. (what was Sax talking about with the blazer stuff?)...hum...must of been good.
Abit of all of us is within that Plaque and will be there for many years to come. So, guess we now all have a small piece of history...and good history. (not like my bank statement!). Also being "big gob" Bob, I can name TWO of whoom supported, cash wise etc the Plaque.
Our Colin...for cash (they are very rich in Canada!) and his "nagging" of Ole' Whip, plus never giving up to keep things moving. (did ya' get yer Raffle tickets as the "Whips Revenge", blue eyes?).
"Do(h)Chick" also, of whoom I know sent money in for the Plaque. One of these days you will sing for Ole' Phantom!. (name in lights and left me in a dungeon...huh!).
Andy....of course!. No words for it, we all feel the same regarding yourself...ya' should of joined the MN!..
