Of interest from a MN member updating our ships pages:
I was a vindi boy third to last intake I believe in 1966. My first trip was on the Port Albany on the MANZ run I joined it in New York . I was also on the vindex 1967 and Port New Plymouth in 1968. I have just purchased a book about the history of the Port Line here in New Zealand the authors name is Ian Faquhar and the isbn number is ISBN 0-9597834-1-5. I have attached a copy of the cover of the book it is a very very good read.
My dad was on board this ship from 1969 to 1970. His name was Sid Lee. He sailed out to New Zealand docked at Auckland where he jumped ship only to get picked up. He spent a year in the prison Mount Eden then was flown home to England 1971. Does anyone remember him? Many thanks his son Danny Lee.
