Anyone travelling to Tower Hill by coach, please note the following mesage received from National MNA
We received information today that there is to be another Sky Ride (Family cycle event same as last year). I was advised on Thursday they had no knowledge of any other event in the area and they appeared to be unaware today until I mentioned the Sky Ride website! After much persistence, I am due to get more information tomorrow regarding road closures which will affect coaches and travel by public bus services, whilst Tower Hill tube station will be closed as previously advised.
For anyone coming by coach, I would suggest that you arrange an earlier start as delays were experienced last year. I have asked for details of road closures and times.
We have been advised that there is due to be an English Defence League march in the Brick Lane area (route not yet known) north of Aldgate East tube station on Saturday, 3 September and to stay clear of the area.
I will send further information as soon as I receive it.
Regards,
Tim Brant National Secretary, Merchant Navy Association
Also please note:
Tower Hill tube station will be closed on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September.
Circle Line no service.
District Line - no service between Embankment and East Ham.
Hammersmith & City Line - no service between Royal Oak and Barking.
Metropolitan Line - no service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Aldgate.
Whilst passing no comment about the Sky ride. There is an alternative to using Tower Hill tube station. If you get to Bank, change to DLR to Shadwell, cross the platform and get the DLR to Tower Gateway. Only 100 or so yards from Tower Hill and frequent service.
