P&O (From the news circular)

HI All,

It doesn't seem that long when they celebrated their 150th, however....

For the first time ever all seven ships of the P&O Cruises feet will be together in Southampton on 3rd July 2012 in celebration of a very special milestone - the 175th anniversary of the formation of the Peninsular Steam Navigation Company.

All ships will be sailing early evening and we've worked out that the best view is probably from Hythe, which is a short 5 return ferry ride from the Southampton ferry terminal, the Ibis hotel seems to have good rates if you need to stay overnight, and is pretty close to the ferry terminal (Harbour St onto A33 about 14 min walk) Hythe ferry runs every half an hour (ten past and twenty -two ) returning exactly on the half hour, last boat being 10:10pm. the ferry heads to Hythe pier which involves a 1909 small train ride to the village (included in ferry fare) Hythe has a few pubs ie The Lord Nelson which apparently has good views over the Solent, hence this is where we will congregate early afternoon , there is also the Hobbit and the Boathouse (which has a good hotel but is fully booked), I think the 3rd July is a  Tuesday so a few sicky's may be warranted.

Judging by comments on websites it looks as though a lot of P&O crew are set to be there. and Hotel prices are already reflecting that being more expensive that night so you may need to book early, Ibis is around 66 pn and Etap is around 33 pn.

see you there...

GRAND EVENT CRUISES

Seven ships leaving on the same day promises to be a spectacular affair and you can be a part of it by joining us to celebrate on one of seven Grand Event cruises. These itineraries, all departing on the evening of 3rd July 2012 are broad ranging, from a 4 night party cruise to a 21 night Central Mediterranean holiday but each will share a very special sense of occasion.
