Hi! Lads,
             Some of you may recall me mentioning about the merchant
seaman who sang his own song at the Royal Albert Hall in London at the
November 2014 "Festival of Remembrance" and how it brought tears to those
who heard it.  He wrote the song as he remembered it from the Normandy
landings as a 15 year old galley boy on a deep-sea rescue tug.  I contacted
him requesting how to obtain a copy of the song and he replied with great
detail and was pleased that other seamen could relate to his experiences and
informed me that I could get a 3 set DVD from him about the landings, the
work of the rescue tugs that people are unaware of and interviews of others
who took part in Normandy, including his song, the "Shores of Normandy".
Well, I have received the DVD's and have just played No; 1 and it is in my
opinion, well worth the money and I now await the CD from the other outlet
to complete the story.  If you haven't heard this song, go to the websites
and type in Jim Radford - "Shores of Normandy" and view the footages shown,
many on Youtube and look at the one taken at the Royal Albert Hall.

One section may interest the Canadian lads as one vessel represented is the
tug "Empire Sandy" which is now in a museum in Toronto and includes footage
of merchant seamen visiting her on the 60th; anniversary.

No doubt it can be purchased from other places if you go to
www.maydaytugsofwar.com but I suspect it will cost more than from Jim
