Crossed the Bar - Jim Connell

It is my sad duty to inform you that James (Jim) Connell (PWSTS 1955) has crossed the bar.

The following previously unnoticed posting was left on the PWSTS Log Book on the 14 August 2016. I am sorry that I missed this posting until now. I have updated the main web page so that the contact us link is in a different colour and hopefully more noticeable:

I am writing to inform you at the PWSTS that my father in law James Connell has crossed the bar. formerly of Glasgow(Govern) but was residing in Donegal Ireland for the last 25 yrs. Jim as he was known attended Dover in 1955 and there is a picture of him swinging from a flagpole on page 17 of the photo's. Jim left us on Tuesday July 12th. His family asked me to inform you of this and would appreciate it if you mentioned it on the website so fellow sailors who James knew could see.

Quite so and commiserations to the family.

The link may be gone but the memories live on.

RIP Jim and the Standard will be dipped for you and yours.

Thinking of you,

Mike

My condolences to Jims family. I took that photo back in 1955 and also visited him in Glasgow after I finished at PWSTS when joining my first ship at John Brown shipyard.

I have just taken a phone call from an ex workmate who has informed me that fellow workmate and ex PWSTS boy
Peter Johnson has passed away today.

Sad news John, thank you for sharing. I will make the proper announcement, grateful for funeral details if you are able?
