This year is the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic and, amongst other places, commemorative events will be centred on Liverpool over the coming weekend of 26/27/28 May, 2023.
It has been difficult to find out who is in charge of what but nonetheless I will be parading the PWSTS Standard at a pier head service, 11.00 for 12.00, at Mann Island on Sunday 28th and, hopefully, later the same day at a March for the Medals at 13.30 from Exchange Flags to Princes Parade. As I say it is difficult to register as is usually the case, so will just tag along and do the best I can to honour our 85 men and boys that lost their lives in the call of duty and the survivors and others that followed on through the doors of PWSTS.
It must be noted that in their wisdom the Royal Naval Association has decided to hold their Annual General Meeting at the same time in the same place thus making already sparse accommodation even more difficult and much more expensive but if anyone is intrepid enough to venture to Liverpool that weekend I am booked into the Adelphi Hotel for Sat and Sun nights, 27th/28th, and would love to share some time although cannot give time or place for certain.
Wherever in the world we may be, for all of us to come together in honour and remembrance please spare a thought for all our forebears, friends and illustrious alumni at 12.00 noon on Sunday, 28th May, 2023.
