A Dover Plaque and Wreath Funding
Permalink

Ok Andy, this seems to be working out, I see you have an address on the main page is that where you would like us to send funding? maybe you could put the info in the forum as well. Maybe with another poll who would be prepared to make donations. Before we get to excited, also we would have to find a place through Dover council where they would allow it? No doubt we would need a poll for that. Although Whip has started to see the light!

Yes, please send funds to the contact address on the www.pwsts.org.uk web site. I will ask for sponsorship, as I always do, but I'm afraid that 99% of the time our cries for help fall on death ears as there are many other worthy causes out there.   Having said that we did collect enough for the wreaths, so I've ordered two. A big THANK YOU to everyone that sent in donations. We now have one for the MN Day Memorial Service at Tower Hill and the other for Remembrance Day. Peter Neivens (Limehouse 1936), one of our earliest old boys, has kindly agreed to lay the wreath on MN Day. I will also be there and look forward to meeting any other old boys that can make it.

The wreaths will be in MN colours with a full size (8") PWSTS colour logo inserted inside.

Yesterday I emailed Dover Council and I'm awaiting a reply regarding sighting a plaque in Dover.

I have just been in contact with Dover Council and Dover Harbour Board. They see no problem with sighting a plaque to commemorate the school on the Prince of Wales Pier on Dover sea front, in fact everyone has been more than helpful.

Prince of Wales Pier is a perfect spot!

I will send off the necessary formal requests today. I will try my best to get the mayor involved etc.

Please email me or make comment here as to what suitable words we could use for the plaque. Also I don't think brass is appropriate as its requires maintenance. How about a treated aluminium plaque?

That is great news Andy, we'll put our collective PWSTS thinking caps on, in the meantime send money I guess as that will ultimately decide what we can put on it and material, size etc. Now's your chance Whip, however I think this will have to be contributed before our pending Law suit!
